High Temps in 4770K

Hi,

Recently I started to get a ridiculous amount of temp read on my CPU, When the CPU is idle and I'm not doing anything its normally between 40-60c. But when I run Cinebench I can easily get 100c. Sometimes when I restart the PC, the bios will stop booting and will give me a temperature warning.

I'm using Corsair h100i, so this should be more than enough to keep my CPU cool, especially when the CPU isn't OC.

Thanks in Advance

Solution
check the rpm the pump is running at... it should be running around 2100... if it's running fine, touch the tubes and see if they're hot. if they're hot the coolent isn't circulating. if they're not, then you've got bad connection between the h100i and the cpu. take the unit off, clean off the cpu and h100i reapply thermal paste and see if that fixes it.

I can feel the vibration inside both pump, and corsair Link is telling me that the pump RPM is 2160

The RPM is around 2160, tubes aren't that hot, I can hold them in my hand normally. I will try the last solution and get back to you. Thank you.

Edit: I replaced the thermal paste, and I noticed a slow reduce in the temps. Ideal is still 40-60c, but with Cinebench I get most 95c. so This is a slight improve.

I use NF-F12 PWM fans, but I used these since Feb, but this awkward increase happened lately.

Appreciate your help

I have just made this test,
CPU ideal(only Browser is open) - Temp 52c - pump feeling cold
Cinebench - Temp 96c - intake pump is cold but outage is hot

Should I put H100i stock fans back or you suggest checking another thing?

There is no way to fix this? I bought this from another country and its almost impossible to ship it there...

I will try this and will get back to you later, Thanks for the help

Currently I have laid the case on it side, as being recommended in other threads, they said that this might remove the bubble.

This is the sound coming closely from my CPU, I though this might help to diagnose the problem

Edit: I change the paste again and it still idle around 65c

Edit 2: I used to get 76c with OC to 4.5Ghz, but now running stock and I get 70c easily. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1719159/4770k-5ghz-reaching-89c-296v-normal.html

Damn, that doesn't sound very healthy...
It's odd that the RPM of the pump is normal even though it makes a sound like that. I'm no longer certain it's an air bubble, might also be a faulty pump. The problem is, there's no way to diagnose it since Corsair water coolers can't be opened to remove air. Try to use your stock cooler to rule out the possibility of a failing chip, that way we can be absolutely sure that it's the cooler.

Great news, I have installed the stock cooler and it is giving me better results than the H100i. I think that unit is faulty. I have contacted corsair about it, I don't know if I'm going to have replacement if I don't live in USA. If I didn't get a replacement, I will get the N280L. Do you recommend it?

Good to hear! The N280L is decent, but I'd recommend the NZXT Kraken X61 if you want to stick with water cooling.

The N280L is water based as well right?

I just need the best cooling (closed cooling) with the lesat amount of issues,
