I just bought a new mobo (Asus z97-e) because the old one (Asus H87M-E) died for no reason. So I reinstalled windows and all updated new drivers.

It all started when I fist launched FarCry 3: pc apparently shuts off and on immediately, "no signal" on screen, and no power to keyboard (mouse light is always on no matter what). I tried another big game, DayZ, and the same thing happened. I forced it into windowed mode and was able to get to video settings, the resolution wasn't right so I changed it to my native resolution: 1920x1080 and it crashed right away again.

I thought it was a resolution problem somehow, it only happened when launching some games, I tried FarCry3, DayZ and Ghost Recon. Orcs Must Die 2 worked perfectly.

But then I noticed it also happened at random times. I left my pc on overnight downloading some stuff and yesterday morning I found it in the same status: no signal, no power to keyboard/mouse. Today the same thing happened.

Note: I know gpu should be fine, it was running FarCry3 perfectly in another pc for 2 weeks until a few days ago that I got my new motherboard and put my pc back together again.

Specs:

  • Motherboard: Asus z97-e
Video Card: AMD Radeon R9 270
    Ram: Kingston HyperX 8gb x2
    Processor: Intel i7-4770, 3.4 GHZ
Power Suply: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600w (Model: RS-600-PCAR)
    Liquid Cooler Master Seidon 120M
    SSD 120GB (Windows installed here)
    2Tb Hard drive

Please help!

The psu worked fine with my old motherboard, then it isn't enough for the new one? How can I be sure that the psu is the problem? If it is definitely the problem, then which one should I get?

I've wasted a ton of money on shipping returns, I've had the worst luck with several of my pc components (first mobo died, two ram kits damaged, even a failing ups) and it's only 5 months old! ):

Thank you!

The Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus RS-600-PCAR-E3 is made by Seventeam. It's really only a 450 Watt PSU, since that is all that it can deliver while remaining within ATX12V specs.

It's also not an Intel Haswell compatible power supply unit. Your system not waking up from C6/C7 sleep state would be a symptom of the incompatibility.

I changed the video card to another slot and changed the power cable it uses, I don't know which one was the solution (My vote is for the cable change) but everything works now! Playing FarCry 3 perfectly.

Thank you so much guys for your help, if there's any other problem, i'll ask you guys again. :D

Ok wrong answer up there. My pc kept on with the problem after that, at the end I tried all the parts with another board and they have been working perfectly for a week.

SOLUTION: I sent back the new, useless motherboard. Now I'm just waiting for the replacement.
