my laptop without warning restarting using ram 2 slot

Are you getting an error massage on restart when you use RAM slot 1? What is the message? Does the computer boot after you dismiss it? Are you using 2 memory sticks? What happens if you use only one (try each stick separately and try each stick in each slot).
