Hello

Hopefully the deliberately vague title has caught some attention. Anyway pleasantries out of the way. I like blender(Software) more than the neighbours cat. However AMD OpenCL support is almost non existent with Blender.
With the sufficient PSU, PCI slots and lanes, would it be possible to run Two R9 290x's in crossfire and One GTX 650 on its own for Blender Rendering? Sounds impossible doesnt it, but one can dream.

Hyperthetically running all screens off the R9 and choosing to run Cycles on the GTX card. If this is not possible then would I have to purchase a Quadro?

Regards
Imperial

Well, its possible to run CF 290x and 650 ti boost in the same rig (or even crossfire + SLI if you so felt like it). I don't think its possible to run cycles with 650 ti while 290x (haven't tried it myself). And if that doesnt work, I would recommend a GTX titan. 6 gb vram (enough for as many screens as you need), Gk110 (780ti like gaming performance), and floating point precision (works awesome with modeling/rendering programs).

I just want to run the GTX 650(Any model is usually better than CPU) to render, at work somewhere we have a Mac Pro(Not my choice) That runs both Firepro and Quado GPU's even thought the monitors are plugged into the AMD card. Then in an application(I dont use) it can use the quado for rendering.

I am trying to get this type of thing going by the end of the year.

Thanks for reply so far. You can have my neighbours cat.

So in theory I should be able to Run 2x 290X's in crossfire with all monitors attached and run a GTX 6xx or 7xx independantly that Blender should hypothetically use? Best way to find out is to borrow a friends GTX card and see. ..

But if you have any example of similair systems then please do..

Yes, it should. The computer won't care which part you use when. If blender supports (I don't know I have on used MAYA) it will work.
