Hi. My friend has offered me a monitor of his as im getting a gaming computer however the hdmi port has broken and it only has VGA. I've heard that VGA is worse quality but i was wondering if 1) there were hdmi quality VGAs or 2) If attaching a vga to the monitor and using a VGA to HDMI to attach it to the hdmi of the pc would improve it or not.
Thank you

At what resolution do you want to play? Because from my own experience up until 1680x1050 it looks really good through VGA.

You can run 1080p resolution just fine on VGA. You will get same results from HDMI and VGA

Are there certain cables that perform batter than others though and do you know which ones. I've been told that because VGA is analogue the quality is worse unless you get a £70 one which I'm not interested in doing!

vga will look a tad worse, but it's gotten a lot better with the new GPUs of today.

You should try monoprice.com, great quality cables for cheap, but if its not a long cable you wont have any problems, I would only recommend buying another one if you are using your monitor away from your pc, (I hace my monitor with a 35 ft cable and it did affect the quality, so I bought it from monoprice and the quality improved a lot.
