Hi,

I just put an XFX R9 290 card into my desktop. Games run great on it... for a few minutes. Then the performance drops and I'm guessing it's because the card is getting too hot. Is there any way to verify if this is the case, and if so, how would I fix it? I hear you can raise the max allowed fan speed. Would that help, and if so, how would I do it?

Thanks.

Solution
msi afterburner mang, i use it when gaming as the 290 only has auto preset to run like 20% fan speed and I bump her up to 30-40

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

Also, if you download the rivera add-on that ask you to install with it, you can use OSD (on screen display) which can display helpful information in top corner of the game such as temp of gpu, fan speed, fps of game etc
