Hello all!

I have a gaming PC and until now, I have been using a TV as a monitor through HDMI. It has worked well but I decided that I wanted a monitor to play games on for better resolution. I ordered this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009483

Being dumb, I made a quick decision and did not notice it did not have DisplayPort connection.

My graphics card can use DisplayPort.

So my question is, if I use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter with the DisplayPort plugged into my PC and HDMI into the monitor, will that work exactly as just having DisplayPort

If not, then I may return the monitor and purchase another one.

Let me know and thanks in advance!

Jon

It should work fine. I am guessing you are leaving the HDMI hooked up to your TV?

EDIT -- It looks like if you want to pass audio from your graphics card to your monitor you will need to get an active adapter as opposed to a passive one.

Not sure if that makes the price jump up significantly, but from what I can tell the max resolution you can put through is 1920x1200 at 60Hz.
