What do you guys think is the max temperature for running this cpu without damaging it, considering with my OC it's bordering on 75 degrees centigrade
Thanks in advance :)

I would say that it is fine as long as it is under 82C

Is that stress test temps or gaming temps? If its stress test that is fine... I guess its fine gaming also but its a bit high... i try to keep my CPU around 55-60c max while gaming.

75° C is the max temp threshold in my opinion.
Do you have that temp during a stress test or just under load while gaming or something?

yeah, that temp was from gaming btw, so i guess it's a bit high from what you are saying

I personally would not run it at that temp for hours on end... But that is just me, I don't believe you will cause any damage to it - I'd avoid stress tests till you lower the clock or get a better CPU cooler though.

Edit: just out of curiosity what is your OC Ghz/voltage and also are you using the stock cooler?

I simply turned up the clocks in my bios to 4.1 on first core, 4.1 on second and 3.9 on the other two, and yes its on the stock fan

Stock fan isnt any good for overclocking, it is only work for working on stock clocks and turbo mode if the temps are good enough.

If you plan to overclock further you must get a good aftermarket cooler.

Guys,

You might want to give this a read: Intel Temperature Guide - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1800828/intel-temp...

CT :sol:

So exactly what we are telling him.

That Guide explains the critical aspects of processor temperatures, as well as how to properly run tests at 100% workload and idle.

It's always helpful when forum members start a thread to post ambient temperature, Vcore, clock speed, cooler, test software and monitoring software so we have enough information to work with prior to anyone attempting to draw a valid conclusion.

Yeah, alongside what everyone else is saying, for sure you'd want to keep it under 75. Even maybe stressing it up to 80, but thats pushing it.
