Hi all,

I was using my computer last night just fine when I decided to shut it down and let windows update. This morning I powered on the computer and there was no video coming from my GTX460. I've tried reseating the card, making sure all connections were tight, resetting the BIOS and I tried to install new drivers for it but it tells me that I am not running a compatible card. I looked in device manager and it only shows my integrated graphics which I am using now. I have tried using system restore as well and the first two tries left me with an error (0xc0000022) but I booted in safe mode and it restored fine. The card is getting power and it gets warm if that makes a difference.

Here are my specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 245
Motherboard: ASRock N68-VS3 UCC
Graphics: EVGA GTX460 1GB EE
PSU: XFX TS550W (Used to be a PRO550W but it stopped working so I RMA'd it and got this back)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well if it is getting hot we know it is getting power. Although it seems that either the identification chip is not working or some other type of damage has been done to the GPU. You could check to see if any of the capacitors are bulging on the Videocard or on the motherboard near the GPU slot. If you can see if someone will let you borrow a videocard to see if it works in your computer.

I took it out and replaced it with my GT520 that I had before this and it worked. I didn't see any bulging capacitors on the GTX460. Then again, I didn't take off the fan shroud because that would require replacing the thermal paste which I do not have unfortunately. Any other things I can try to see if this card will work again?

Well if the GT520 works I'd say your GTX460 is likely dead. The only thing you can probably do is pray it is still under warranty which it may be if you remembered to register the card.

Thanks caqde. I am not the original owner of this card as I bought it off of eBay. It worked perfectly fine until this morning so I guess no gaming for now. :(
