Hi,

My system reboots without blue screen, while playing battlefield 4 for like 10 mins, and i cant find the reason. Maybe you guys can help me out.

System specs:
OS_ Win 7 ultimate 64bit
CPU_ i5-4440, with corsair H100i
Mobo_ Giagabyte H87-D3H
RAM_ 8GB Gskill ripjaws and 4GB corsair vengence
HDD_ 120GB kingston+1TB 7200RPM SG +3TB 7200RPM SG
GPU_ MSI GTX 560 1GB GDDR5
SMPS: Corsair TX850

[update] after updating the BIOS, now the system reboots with the blue screen and reboots occur after 20-25 mins of gameplay.

This is what happened so far.
1)i play the game in low settings in 1080p,and i found that game performance is very bad with random reboots. And after reboot the Harddisk priority changes from SSD to HDD

2)so i ran few diagnostics and i found that CPU is getting overheated and reaching 100C , which is weird with corsair H100i. And i found that H100i is not working and i can see some black color on copper plate.(H100i is damaged just after 3 months, since i bought it without any overclocking lol)

3)I removed the H100i and replaced it with my unused intel stock cooler. And i ran prime95 over night, and the max temps are 72C.

4)I thought the problem is solved, there are no lags or FPS drops but system keeps on rebooting whenever i play BF4 like 10 mins and this time CPU temps are below 68C.

5)I ran MSI kombaster torture test for 6hrs without any issues. i think GPU is not the problem either.max GPU temps are 74C

6)i checked my harddisks they are also healthy. So i re installed OS and BF4 but the problem isnt solved.

7)i played several other games , they also work fine. Except BF4.

8)If the game is crashing, then how come my boot order in my bios is getting altered?

I ran out of ideas, can someone point me the right direction.

Thanks in advance

This honestly sounds like a motherboard issue itself. Try grabbing the latest bios and report back. It could of been something that was fixed through a bios update. If that doesn't work, check that your ram is installed properly and has the right timings and voltage set.

If none of this works you may have to RMA your board or grab a new one.

then you would think all would be an issue he seems to state its just bf4 causing this[???]

How can BF4 change motherboard settings? lol. :sarcastic:  See point #8 where he mentions it. This is happening AFTER it reboots as well, and Windows would not even be loaded yet, let alone BF4.

don't know but I don't have a 3ed party downloading content and making changes as they see fit as in steams eula ''with out limitations'' once you agree to that you lost that control of your system to them

You didn't list your PSU brand/model number. If it's a cheap PSU is likely can't provide clean power when the system is under load (gaming) and resets.

seems to be. Bcz after your advice i updated the BIOS, now the game reboots with blue screen, earlier it used to reboot without any error. is there a way to test if the motherboard is having problem ?

Regarding ram, these are the settings

1)Gskill ripjaws 1600Mhz, running @1333mhz V1.5 timings are auto and 10 10 30
2)Corsair vengence 1600Mhz running @1333mhz V1.5 timings are auto 9 9 9 24
since they both are from different brands, i installed them in separate channels. im not a expert , but i ran prime95 in 'blend' mode where it will test lots of ram. Do you think i should run more tests on ram?

i dont have steam except origin . And i think its a hardware problem, since i dont know how long i have been running on the malfunctioning H100i, somehow something is damaged and the damed part is being used only in BF4 game, not in any stress tests.

You should never mix different types of RAM. The ram you have is not the same brand, and the timings are different. That is the cause of your problems. Take out two sticks of one of the types of ram and I bet your problems go away. ;)

Really shouldnt mix ram and timings. Take one stick out that will most likely solve your problem.

i really doubt that, bcz i installed those memory modules in different channels. And also when i ran the prime95 in blend mode,it didnt fails. it normally fails if there is a problem with memory. Anyhow ill take you suggestion and ill remove one memory module, and ill also run memtest86 and ill see if any thing comesup.

bios update and sata cable change for primary drive fixed the issue.
