So I recently decided to upgrade my rig and purchased myself a new motherboard and CPU, since before I had an APU which didn't leave me a whole lot of room to upgrade the processor. I also got a new case while I was at it since it was reasonably priced. I set up all of the components and everything went together pretty well.

This brings me to where I'm at now. After a few tries of powering up, there was no display every time. I came to this site and troubleshooted a bit using the checklist. I have unattached everything except the PSU, CPU, and HSF from the motherboard. Powering on the PSU does not cause the motherboard to beep even with no RAM in the system. I even tried the other speaker from my other motherboard to see if possibly that one was defective - still nothing. One thing to note is that the HSF does spin up and the LED is also on.

Everything is still in the case as I haven't bothered to take it all out yet. All of the stand-offs are in the correct position so that shouldn't be an issue. I guess the next thing I could do is try a breadboard, but I thought I would check with you guys first.

I'm not really sure where to go from here. The PSU, RAM, and GPU are all from a working rig. The new components that I purchased are:

Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P Mobo
AMD FX-8320 CPU
Zalman 120mm low-noise Ball CPU Cooler

The components I took from my other case that were working just fine are:

NVIDIA GTX 750
Corsair CX500 PSU
GSkill Ares 8GB (4 x 2)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The LED that turns on is from the CPU heat sink fan. I have that and the CPU on the motherboard. And the PSU of course. Nothing else. I will try the breadboard test later today.

Would I need to do that? Recent purchasers of the product on sites like Newegg have left reviews that stated that the mobo detected their FX-6300, 8320, 8350 right out of the box. I made sure I checked that. Is it possible I got an old board that wasn't updated with the recent bios?
