My Dell laptop which runs XP has always worked wireless to internet BUT i have changed my provider and will not now work - my new provider - BT - tried for 3 hours and then said it was something in my laptop stopping the wireless connection. Works absolutely fine on Ethernet Cable. The Laptop Connection Manager says that it is connected but when I search on my browser it takes ages and then says not available try again. My Wireless network connection says it is a Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN minicard. Any way I can alter to fix ?

Solution
do a ping test on wireless to the router of he isp and if you want to make shure the wireless stil work go to a hotspot and connect to it .

Thank you for your very fast response but BT already suggested that and it didn't work. My husbands Chromebook is working perfectly "wireless" but just can't get my old laptop to respond. When I got this laptop I was a complete technophobe and got our, then, IT consultants where I worked to buy the laptop, set it all up with XP etc (Vista was the thing at the time) and to set up my internet with a provider. This is the first time I have changed my provider and like I said BT actually spent 3 hrs on the phone trying everything to get it to connect wirelessly. But thank you again for your reply :)
