Hello,
I have an FX 8320 and I OCed it to 4.5GHZ 1.4375V. The NB is at 240Mhz, and when I test it on AMD overdrive and prime 95 I get Illegal Sumeout. I checked and saw that not all the cores were operating. How do I fix this?
Thanks

Try a bit lesser overclock, might be having problems at this frequency/voltage, being unable to initialize properly. Yes I know it should be able to handle this, could be just tough luck on the CPU lottery.

By the way, does Prime run okay at non-OC settings?

I never checked. You see I need to OC because of GPU Bottleneck. I have 2x7950 that's why...

What voltage should I use for a 4.5GHZ OC? Also in games it works fine. Should I worry about the stopped cores if in game they don't??
Thanks

In game it says max cpuvcore is 1.395v and I put it to 1.4250V.

If your CPU is under warranty, have it called in, its only going to cause more problems in the future. Your CPU is identified as octa-core, and as soon as applications come out that fully utilize all of its cores, you will have severe problems as soon as those applications try to put the load on the malfunctioning core.
