Have I blown the PSU?

Hi,
I've just finished putting my 1st PC together and was feeling pretty pleased with myself when it all seemed to be working properly. I just had to put the covers back on and it was done.
But, there are 3 fans in the case with molex plugs on them. When I connected them (directly to the PSU) the computer wouldn't power up.
I decided to try connecting them one at a time but with the computer already running. As soon as I plugged the adapter into the PSU all of the light on the motherboard went off and now it won't start again. Nothing light up when I connect the power lead. The adapter wasn't connected to anything else when I plugged it into the PSU so there was no load on it. There weren't any nasty popping noises, no burning smell or anything worrying, but the PSU doesn't seem to work anymore.
It's a brand new Corsair CS750M. In the documentation it says that it has all kinds of built in protection against short circuits and stuff.
Could I have blown it anyway?
Thanks for your help.
Alex

First of all dont connect molex plugs while the PC is running!!! ever! You can do that with sata power however but i'd still advise against it.

There is the possibility that the adapter you used is shorting something out as it makes the most sense since you didn't have a load on it.

The psu is probably in "shutdown mode" after the SCP kicked in. The way you fix it is unplug the power cord and stop the PSU from the on/off then wait up to 5 minutes then plug it in / wait 5 sec/ turn the psu on / wait 5 sec/ turn on pc

Phew! All is OK. I tried it again this morning as you suggested and it started normally.
Thank you very much. From now on I will never do anything without disconnecting the power first. I only did it because I was tired and impatient after putting everything else together.
I'll see if it will work with another adapter sometime but for now I think I can manage without the fan. There are 2 others that are powered from the motherboard anyway. I don't think it will get too hot.
I will now consider my first attempt to be a success. Much due to the advice and information that I've found on this site.
Thank you.
