Restoring program settings after downgrade?

Hey there.

I've just downgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (SP1)

I've kept all my files from Windows 8.1 and copied them over to the new folders in Windows 7.

Is there any way I can restore shortcuts and program settings to what they were?

Example; Steam has a folder in Program Files (x86) with all my games and stuff, but under Control Panel, none of these show up. Can I change this?

no yuou to reinstall them. most games and programs do more than just copy files to program files. they add dll's, they copy files to windows folders, they add entries to the registry, etc. None of this saved by simply copying a folder. A reinstall is the only way really.
