Looking for a good GPU for my laptop!

I'm going to purchase a gaming laptop soon for college. I want to get an r9 m290X but people say it is going to suck in a year or two. They suggest the 860. Tell me, what do you think?

Well there are several things wrong with what people told you.
First, you cant add a GPU to laptops except in some special cases, and even then, you cant add desktop cards.
The 290x is a very powerful card that will last years, all cards will under perform eventually. The 860 hasnt been released let alone the specs, and it will likely fall at the same times the 290x does.
EDIT: 860m is much different than an 860 and I realize that

Dont bother purchasing it then. Unless you absolutely need it. Use the money to build your own PC. You'll get much more performance from any budget when not getting it prebuilt since they mark up everything ridiculously.
