Motherboard Not Recognizing PCI-E Wireless Card

I just purchased an ASUS PCE-AC68 card, but when I install it in my AsRock z97 Extreme4 mobo's top PCI-E x1 slot, the motherboard will not even recognize that there is anything in the slot. I have a graphics card installed directly below the wireless card, taking up two slots. Then I have two empty PCI-E x16 slots. When put in the bottom slot, the PC will not boot. I don't want to install it in the x16 slot right next to the graphics card, as it will mess up the airflow to the GPU fans. Am I dealing with a DOA wireless card, or is there something I'm missing?

Solution
Interestingly enough, it turned out to be something to do with the fact that I had my onboard ethernet driver disabled. Maybe it was complete dumb luck, but when I enabled it, it worked again.
