I have a r7 260x currently, and I was wondering if I would get more power by selling the r7 260x and getting a r9 270x, or getting a 2nd 260x to crossfire

More about : upgrade crossfire

It's better to get a new single card. Low end card crossfire is not worth it.

But two 260X's would be more powerful than one 270X, but then it creates more heat and needs more wattage.

Ya as said above, cross firing low end cards are not worth it because it will draw more power instead of having one high end card. So in the end my answer would be no because you wouldn't get a big FPS upgrade when you cross fire lower end cards. Besides, save up for and get a r9 280 or 280x

i dont even think the r7 260x can even be crossfired. second no the performance will be like what a r9 270x or r9 280 max. i suggest get a r9 280(non x) for a 200$ if you can or a r9 270 for 140$. crossfire has to many issues and those cards are so weak i dont even seeing those providing good enough performance

Yes and some recent games are still not optimized for crossfire but most of them are

Yes, they can. the R9 280 is a good choice because it is really cheap and if you OC it, it would be the same as a X version

i still wouldnt recommend crossfiring them more power, heat and they wont even scale well like 10- 30% maximum fps improvement so what a r9 270x level experience. crossfire is suppose to give higher performance all this will give is more cons instead of pros

R7 260x can be crossfired. However it'll use about 90% of the power of a single 280x, and only get about 80% of the performance, while costing about the same for both cards. Basically, if you have to upgrade your PSU to handle the crossfire, if budget will allow, you are much better off with the r9 280x, and selling the 260x to make up some of the difference. Not only will you have less heat, but also less scaling issues, less driver problems, and 1 new card vrs 1 New and 1 Old card.
