What I want to do is use my Netgear WNA2000 Router as a way to connect my Direct TV box to the internet via wifi. I have a Netgear DGND3700v2 that is my router/modem. I have the DGND connected to my desktop while the Direct TV box is too far to use a long ethernet cable.

To use a router to connect to another router via wireless it must have a feature called client-bridge. Many times they call this repeater but when you do not want to replicate the wireless signal you only need the client-bridge part. You are going to have to dig through the manual and see if it has any of this type of option.

You can get a dedicated device to do this they are generally sold as gaming adapters or media bridge. You can also get repeater just be sure you can turn off the wireless part since it degrades the wireless signal and when you do not actually need the wireless replicated it is silly to degrade your signal for no reason.
