Not sure what you saw, in order to view it we have to request access just to see it. If you want help you need to post the actually picture in the thread here.

That is normal. Don't really know why companies that make PC cases bother with these, but all you do is twist and bend it and it breaks off. I know it doesn't sound right, but thats how it is done. You break it off and then put in the optical drive.

Maybe for people who don't want optical drives? :p

lol maybe but they don't serve any practical function. They don't keep dust out as the covering over them does that. They don't add structural integrity as they are only connected by small bits of metal on the sides and aren't weight barring. Just seems they company would be better off saving a few cents in metal than bother placing them in there.

And for the people not wanting to put in an optical drive? They'd be left with a gaping hole in their case where dust and moisture can easily get in.

Again, no they wouldn't. These are always, and I do mean always, covered up by some kind of outside layer. Typically this 2nd lair is about an inch away from these metal place holders, made of metal or some kind of plastic, and unless you first removed this outer metal or plastic layer you can't even see these inner metal place holders.

If they did not exist, no additional moisture or dust would get inside of the case.

OOOH, I've completely misread your intention. I was thinking you meant "Why do they even add something there?" As in not cover the hole at all

My bad sorry man ;P

haha yea its okay. No I get having something covering it, It would be a bit reckless not to mention look terrible to leave a full open hole there. Its just that second layer which seems pointless.

Anyways Salamaster did you figure it out?
