I currently have one GTX 770 4GB and I plan on upgrading to a 1440p or 4k monitor. Will two 770's be enough for 4k gaming? I'd like to play on ultra with at least 30 fps but I don't mind turning AA off and lowering the shadows.
I'm just hoping that two 770's would be good enough to handle games like The Witcher 3 and Batman: Arkham Knight on 4k/ultra settings. I'm probably asking for too much there lol.
If you want to play on ultra settings, you're going to be disappointed. You would need at bare minimum a pair of EVGA GTX 780 SC's w/ ACX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CUIVSNS in SLI for ultra settings at 4K resolutions in those games. It's likely you would even need a pair of 780 Ti's in SLI.

I might consider the R9 290 but I don't have the budget to purchase two new high-end GPU's. I already have a 770 4GB and I was thinking about adding another one if I got a 4k monitor. I'll just wait a little while and see how things turn out.

You can do it but you won't be playing on very high settings.
