So I'm not sure that this is where I should be asking but I'm looking for something good to hide my Ip address. the first thing I saw was Hotspotshield. I don't really know which is worth getting and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation.

Well your individual IP is already hidden. Every device connected to the internet in your house has an IP address specified by your wireless router. From there, your Wireless router has an IP address and this cannot be completely hidden. The reason being is that it has to connect to your internet service provider in order for you to connect to the internet and they specify a particular IP address for you and your home and always know everything you are doing.

You can add additional protection for other sources though. If you don't want companies outside of your ISP to see your IP address, you can get a connection to an SSL or Proxie server, which pretty much works by having that server go to the websites you tell it and then send the...

You can add additional protection for other sources though. If you don't want companies outside of your ISP to see your IP address, you can get a connection to an SSL or Proxie server, which pretty much works by having that server go to the websites you tell it and then send the information back to you. This way there is a go between and anywhere you go, to anyone outside of your ISP and SSL service provider anything you do points back to the SSL company. However all of these companies that offer this service charge money because it uses a lot of bandwidth because they get lots of users doing it.

You can also get programs like Peerblock which blocks some outside IP addresses from connecting to you but its not the same. It will prevent the listed IP addresses from knowing what you are doing but outside of those it doesn't do anything.
