Hi!
The old HP has the power button ribbon broken off the power button board.
This laptop has taken a beating and is kind of a wreck, the case is broken and basically it's junk but it still worked until recently.

If anyone knows the way to jumper the power on, please advise!

Thank you !

Yup, that. Thank you for responding, Carlos!

I did a few things since posting (like shorting the little leads in the clip that the power button ribbon goes to) and got it to power on with or without a CMOS battery. It goes to a page asking if I want to set CMOS to default or go to BIOS. I choose BIOS and then exit and it boots windows. The laptop is in pieces since the case got busted up but my daughter still likes to use it. I have it propped up on a little wooden rack with a dollar store item holding the screen. It's actually nicer and runs cooler like that :)

Thank you for that.

I've order a new button already, $10.

Meanwhile everything is back up and running, but to start up, every time I need to disconnect the CMOS battery and then re-connect it once powered up.
