I have a dell insperon 570 that I have recently upgraded the GPU to a GTX750ti SC with 2GB GDDR5. Also I just put in a EVGA 600B PSU.
My RAM is 6GB of DDR3 533mhz. Two 2GB DIMMs and two 1GB DIMMs. My MoBo (04gjjt)
supports up to 8GB of 1333 Mhz.
My question is is the upgrade worth it? Seeing how I will essentially be trashing the 6GB that I have. It would be a $75 upgrade that I could get a 128GB SSD for. Thoughts?

IMO it is not worth it. Throwing away 6GB of ram and losing $75 for something you can spend on something else(SSD). I would first see how well your computer does in games, and then think about upgrading the ram. If games run smooth enough just keep that money in your pocket. Also, cpu seems outdated, but if you dont notice it too much in the games that you play dont worry.

Thanks for the quick reply and the perspective. Games are running great I am getting 50 FPS in GTA IV maxed out. Believe me I know that my CPU is dated and underpowered, but it is still working and it is an awesome CPU other than the fact that I cant run virtual machines and it screams when I try to run an emulator.

Another thing, your mobo is outdated and will not be able to take full advantage of ssd speed. Might not even be able to recognize ssd.

ah! I did not think of that. thx. I guess that the next upgrade should be Mobo, CPU,RAM, and OS. I will regulate my old gear to a PFsense router.

cpu/mobo needs to be upgraded at the same time. maybe even ram needs to be upgraded lol because new mobos require ddr3 ram. In other words, old cpu/ram may not be compatible on new mobo

Sure thanks I understand. thats the big chunk of cash that I was trying to put off as long as possible lol. My RAM is DDR3 but I was planing on upgrading along with CPU Mobo because it is only 533 Mhz. I plan to get an I-5 4670k and a good Mobo and 16GB RAM (for VM) but I will have to stick with what I have for now until funds become available.
What I have works for gaming but I want to delve into Linux ans OSX so I need the HTT and extra RAM.
