Hello

Okay, so the thing is that two weeks ago i got a new graphics card...That day i inmediately opened the box, and i held the card by the gold part like 7 times in total (Ultra mega facepalm!!)... I didn't feel any electrical discharge, but i'm scared that i might have ruined my gpu by touching it too much. What do you guys think? I'm not building my pc until august, so i don't know if my gpu is alright.

P.S: I held the card very carefully with my fingers

P.S 2: Yes i know, i'm an idiot, and i should've googled "How to not up a gpu" before i opened the box :pfff:

Thanks for taking the time to read this and every answer is appreciated!!

The only way to know is to try the GPU. It's likely okay, but the only way to find out is to plug it in and give it a go.

You didn't ruin anything most likely , They aren't made of plastic after-all . Its advisable not to handle them from the board but in most cases you are fine.

It's fine.

Modern integrated circuits are incredibly resistant to static discharge. You'd pretty much have to rub it all over a cat to inflict any damage to it, and even then the damage would come from a pissed off cat rather than static electricity.

The bigger risk comes from mechanical damage, keep it safe and avoid handling it until you're ready to install it.

Absolutely agree. Mechanical damage is a lot more likely than ESD damage
