so, i want to upgrade the performance of my pc, i have an i5 4670k (dont need a new processor) have a z87 asrock extreme 4 board, which is good, 8gb 2133mhz ram, 620w power supply, and a couple ssds. also have a h100i

so im thinking of upgrading to do video editing (my mate and i want to do youtube), but i also want to take my gaming to next level graphics.

rather than selling my 760 acx sc card (2gb evga card) i want to go sli with them. will my 620w be alright if im running my pc on high settings/ultra?? as ssds dont use much power, the cpu isnt overclocked as its op as is, the ram may get upgraded (second 8gb kit) but other than that, thats all

so if i put another 8gb kit ram, and a second evga gtx760 acx sc card in, will i need a better powersupply or should i be fine??

Solution
For a system using two GeForce GTX 760 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 700 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 50 Amps or greater and that has at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors. Some of the GeForce GTX 760 cards have a single 8-pin or two 8-pin or one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

The OCZ ZS Series 750W (OCZ-ZS750W) power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 54 Amps and with two 6-pin and two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is sufficient to power your system configuration with two GeForce GTX 760 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode.

Overclocking components need higher wattage PSU, however..

Read this http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/geforce-gtx-760-sli-review,4.html 700-800 W PSU is highly recommended

Also, i don't plan on oc'ing, i dont plan on running 4 billion things at once (like rendering alot while playing games), i just want to be able to render higher, and be able to get things looking better

its just i dont really wanna go buying another powersupply, as im running pretty low power consuming parts.
and ports aint a problem, i have 2 more available molex to 8pin and molex to 6 pin adapters

Yes, older i7s can't handle rendering.. Mobile processors are way different from desktop processors.. Desktop CPUs can handle much load than the laptop ones.. But you should upgrade PSU for GTX 760 SLI.. PSU needs to supply power to all the components simultaneously under load, so don't compensate in PSU as it might get you to dead components.. You can get it from NEWEGG AUSTRALIA.. http://www.newegg.com/global/au/

yeah, but that laptop never died from rendering or over heating or anything. it died in a house fire. was at my mates and the aircon caught fire while they were out, and everything gone. got the money back for insurance which covered my current pc (desktop, yay)

so, if i just sell my 760 and buy a 780, or a R9 290/x, would the 620 be alright powersupply??

and i just prefer to use PCCG for sales in australia because fast shipping, (bought my desktop parts from them, and got regular shipping. here in within 3 days :D )

Cause the R9 290x on pccg is rough $599, or a 290 is 489, both over spec my 760. I need something good for rendering, and good for high fps gaming, on a single 24inch 1080p monitor, soon a 4k monitor

Single GTX 780 cannot run 4k monitors at ultra.. Minimum Nvidia requirement for 4Ks is GTX 780 SLI and that need way more power.. However, you're fine with 780 in your current build..

Monitor, may end up keeping this one, but hooking my pc to a sony 4k tv for movies (thats where the 4k is) but i may end up with dads 4k monitor
i would prefer the 290/x, but ive always used nividia because they are so reliable

O then get a GTX 780 - 529$.. If you need lesser because of budget, ASUS GTX 770 for 409$ (both in PCCG).. Going to 770 from 760 is not much of upgrade since the performance difference for that money is very less, better to go for 780/290x.... Since you're watching just movies on a 4k monitor/tv, it really doesn't need high end card.. gaming does..
