Home network and cable internet testing

It is like any tool if you do not have the understanding to use it you will many times be deceived and led off track. There are many people that do not have a clue why the common speed test site runs at different rates when you choose different locations they just happily click the button and hope for a big number like they are playing some slot machine.

The vast majority of the problems people have can be identified with ping and traceroute commands. Most times you need to identify which kind of problem you are trying to solve and then pick the proper tool to find it. Its not like any software will find physical problems with a cable or fiber you need a TDR device to check this. In most cases the only way you are truly going to find network problems is when you have complete control of a network. It does not help a lot if you think you see a problem in some router but have no access to it or no way to contact the owner, does knowing but not being able to fix something really have a benefit.

Who TF do you think you're talking to? Some idiot noob? I simply asked if anybody knew about a better NDT than M-labs. Not an ear grabbing lecture about control of network resources. Jesus. There's one of you in every group isn't there?
