Hi Guys,

I'm looking for an upgrade from my MSI HD 7850 OC 1Gb, it's not a bad card but it often struggles in games like Rome 2 TW! Although I am playing more games like CS GO at the moment, I'm sure when the next big titles get released I will play those I.e. GTA V. Also its worth mentioning that I will be trying to go dual monitor in the next 6 months but only one will be for gaming and the other browsing!

I'm not looking to spend more that about £230ish

My current PC specs are:
I5 4440
ASRock H81M-ITX Mainboard
MSI HD 7850 OC 1GB
8GB G-Skill DDR 3 1333
240GB Kensington V300 SSD
1TB Western Digital HDD
500W Corsair 80+ Bronze Modular PSU
Cooler Master Seidon 120v CPU Water Cooler
Cooler Master Elite 130 Case

I dont think I have forgot any of the specs!

I not sure if I should go Nvidia or AMD this time, but I'm heading slightly toward Nvidia because the better drivers and the majority of games are designed to be optimised for Nvidia!

All suggestions and guidance will be appreciated!

Also how much could I expect to get for my MSI HD7850 should I sell it?

Regards

MJW

depends on the condition of your card.

To get a decent card these days you need to upgrade that PSU to a better one, what would your budget be for a new card and new PSU?

get a gtx 760, i don't know how exact it costs in your place, but it must be under your budget and its the best bang for buck.. But that PSU is not enough, you need atleast 550W 80+ bronze rated PSU..

Go for a r9 270x or if you can spend more try the r9 280x. The gtx 760 costs around $280 .. the r9 270x has almost equal performance for $210 .. for $280 you can buy r9 280x which is way better than the gtx 760.

OC'd 7850 = stock R9 270x.. So it wouldn't give much performance difference..

280x is better for 2 monitor, nice frame rate, nice settings. still you need a 650w+ to do that. In the end, you would have to upgrade your psu before any gpu upgrade.

An OCed R9 270x like the TOXIC from sapphire would do good... If it was me i would go for a 280x. But it does not cost around the 230ish price bracket

According to http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine I only need a 497W PSU with 30%+ for aging capacitors for a R9 280x or 474W for GTX 770. I only order my new 500W psu a weeks ago so don't want to buy a new one already lol

That should be barely enough, but you shouldn't think about overclocking your CPU or making upgrades unless you replace that PSU.

do it under your own risk, that is not recommended under any circumstances, and if it blows and takes out most of your system, it would be your problem as we have already warned you.

I would try getting an R9 280x or 280.
