Right now I'm on the fence in deciding between the A10 7850K and the FX 8320. Honestly I never would have contemplated using an AM3+ board had MSI not released a new mobo last month. What I'll be doing with it is playing the alpha/beta of ArcheAge and maybe Black Desert and Bless if I can get into the betas. In short the games will be very poorly optimized with demanding requirements since all the MMOs I listed are all running new game engines and are still in the beta stages. I will be running these games on a single monitor in 1920x 1200x resolution, and since these games are MMOs there will be alot of character models to render.

I will be using a corsair H100i to cool the CPU or APU and will be overclocking it as much as the H100i is capable of safely doing. I will also be using an R9 290 non-x until Nvidia's flagship Maxwell chips hit the shelves. I may get a 2nd card if one GTX 880 won't cut the cheese.

FM2+
APU $170: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113359&cm_re=a10_7850k-_-19-113-359-_-Product
Mobo $109: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130754&cm_re=A88X-G45-_-13-130-754-_-Product

AM3+
CPU $160: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285&cm_re=8320-_-19-113-285-_-Product
Mobo $100: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130790

So which AMD chipset should I spring for? The A10 7850k or the FX-8320?

Furthermore please don't suggest Intel, as the reason I'm asking is the price difference between the chips I listed is very negligible.

You have about 700$ to spend on your gpu, but can't afford the 40$ going from an 8350 to an i5 4690k? Just to give you an idea of the performance difference on a i5 4690k on easy 4.4ghz: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/screenshots/original/2014/07/Intel_Core_i5-4690K_Devil_s_Canyon_Benchmark-Test_Anno2070_2-pcgh.png
Well, your decision.
As for between A10 7850K and FX 8320, since you have a dedicated GPU, the FX 8320 is your choice. The A10 slightly beats it in single core performance, but at anything slightly multithreaded the 8320 beats it.

MSI is the worst manufacturer of 970 and 990 boards. They are known for having terrible power delivery. Making the cpu throttle. And the VRM's actually bursting into flames. The specs don't even say if it is a 4+1 or 8+2 phase power. I can tell you if u want a decent, cheap 970 board get the GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P. If you want a great board get a Sabertooth. You say you will be overclocking as far as the H100i will take you. I have news for you. If you buy an MSI board THAT will be your limiting factor. It will throttle your cpu long before your cpu hits any kind of thermal distress.
