Hello everyone,
I have an HP Pavilion a6238x desktop computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 processor. It had 2GB (2x 1GB) of Hynix PC2-5300U RAM memory with the (product?) ID hymp512u64cp8-y5 ab-c. I wanted to install more RAM, so I ordered 8GB (2x 4GB) of Komputerbay PC2-5300/PC2-5400 DDR2 DIMM RAM memory which seems to be non-ECC and unbuffered.
When I remove both of the 1GB Hynix memory chips and insert one of the 4GB Komputerbay memory chips, the computer repeatedly sounds one short beep and one long beep (of the same frequency). I believe this corresponds to a motherboard error code, so I checked which BIOS the desktop has and it appears to be Phoenix - AwardBIOS.
My question is why does the computer seem to reject the new RAM? Any comments and questions are much appreciated.
