Hello!

I'm currently working on building my very first PC. I'm using the FX 6300 processor on the Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. I'm trying to install the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo on the CPU, but the only issue is that the retention plate screws are not connecting with the back plate stand offs. I have the backplate installed in the correct orientation for AMD as well as the correct socket orientation on the retention plate. Even with all this, when I go to put the Evo on the CPU, I may be able to get one screw started, but I can't get the other screws to get close enough to where they screw into the standoffs, even with a considerable amount of pressure. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Solution

I resolved the issue. All I had to do was push down on the retention plate screws and that kind of "loosened" them up so that they stuck down a little further than before. I was able to then install it with ease. Thank you for your help anyway!

Yeah, I wasn't willing to force it if I didn't have to. I resolved the issue though. All I did was put push down on the top of the retention screws to loosen or compress the spring and that made the screw stick out a little more than it did. After that, it was an easy install. Thanks for your help anyway though!
