Surge protector is fine. Your PSU on the other hand is not very good at all.

Cooler master Thunder is proven PSU in India(been using it for 2 years).

I would invest in an APC ups which has inbuilt surge protection. Btw, I use a belkin surge protector with my tv and never had a problem.

Cooler master thunder psu are strictly OK PSU's. I wouldn't use it in a machine that draws more than 70% or their rated power. For almost same price Seasonic Eco series is much better alternative.

Well according to the specs and a hard to read review it can only deliver 400w on the 12v rail and it uses low quality capacitors, and has poor voltage regulation. Just because it hasn't killed your system yet does not means it's a good model. It just means you are lucky. The only good psu Coolermaster currently offers is the V series as it is made by Seasonic.

That is a much higher quality PSU. Seasonic is among the best PSU manufactures around.

With good reason.
They go pop, bang, fizzle.
ssssssssssssssssssssschungchungBANG...click.

They all make different sounds really. I suppose if you put a line of them together and deliberately over-amped them you could make a hit Skrillex track.

Most of them end up taking half the system with them.

What really got me annoyed was when I saw Mac Pro ( the big old desktop, not the new peddle bin shape) PSUs blow, and take other components with them.... A pro computer costing that order of expense should NEVER have this sort of thing happen....

200 joules is about the smallest you'd want.
