At the moment i have a 60hz monitor and when i play games like borderlands 2 im getting 200fps, but due to this i get immense screen tearing (even with nvidia vsync). So i was wondering if i get a 120hz monitor will the screen tearing be any better even though im getting 200fps?

If you're getting screen tearing with vsync then something else is amiss. Generally speaking without vsync the further away the games framerate is from your monitors refresh rate the less noticeable tearing should be. aka is you're getting 59 or 61 fps you're likely to see awful tearing, but at 200 it should be barely noticeable. But yes, with a high hz monitor any tearing that does happen is less severe. If you can hold out a bit longer though more g-sync monitors will come out and getting one of those would eliminate your problem
Again, capping framerate is not the same as v-sync. If you cap your framerate to your monitors refresh rate you are likely to get awful screen tearing. That will happen at 60hz, or at 120hz, it just won't be as bad on a 120hz display. Either use v-sync only, or if you really want to cap your framerate, choose a different number than 60.
If you have v-sync on you should not be getting /any/ screen tearing. If you are something is wrong (like you're having some game/driver conflict preventing v-sync from functioning). Have you be playing around in the config files for Borderlands 2? If not, go to Steam, right click on the game and verify the game cache. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, then launch borderlands 2, turn off frame cap, turn off v-sync. close the game and go into nvidia control panel, make a profile for borderlands 2 and turn on adaptive v-sync.
