I dont know if this was the right category to ask this under but i want to buy a big box of cat6 cable like the 1000ft box. Im asking because i did some research and it seems that most cables are made improperly and dont meet specifications so i was gonna ask if you guys know of a reliable and good brand to buy from

it doesnt need to be cat6 i just want it to be but preferably cat6 or higher (pls dont lecture me on the uselessness of higher than cat5e)

Solution

from an Admin command prompt: tracert wherever

For instance
tracert www.google.com

the first result is between you and your router. i.e., your cable. It should be 1 ms. Maybe 2ms.

After that....the situation exists outboard of your router. And you can't change/fix that.

Cat5e, Cat6, whatever.
You also need a good crimper and at least a minimal cable tester.

Be prepared to waste more than a couple of of RJ-45 cable ends until you get it right. Start with very short sections to practice (6 inches) until you get the whole splicing and crimping right.

Other than that...cable is cable.

I think Belkin is a good brand for cat6 cable.
Cat6 is a foiled twisted pair, so it shields each pair against any signal from the other pairs. It's use is for indoor lines being more reliable than the cat5e for distances up to 50 mts.
Next to that comes the cat7 that is for outdoor lines, being a shielded, foiled twisted pair.

this is a reliable company and good cable because this is gonna be the cable running from the ont outside to the router inside so i want a good cable

and its going through an attic so it needs to be heat resistant

it is for inside use to run from the ont to the router inside which is about 100ft and it goes through a hot attic if that changes anything

and how would this cable be outside because my ont is outside so it has a 10ft run on the side of the house into the attic

For that run it should be outdoor rated cable.

Heat increases the resistance to electrical conductivity, but how hot is that attic? 100ft isnt that long so it shouldn't cause a decrease on the performance. If you are worried about it, you could use a signal booster. (those are meant for 100 meter lines or longer.)

Right. So is mine. On the back wall of the garage. So What I have is a very short run (24") from the ONT in through the wall into the garage. After that....all interior.

And you don't absolutely need Cat5e/Cat6 from the ONT. Coax from the ONT to the Verizon router works just as well. Cat5e after that.

Depending on 'exactly' where the ONT is...look to a very short run from that to the inside.

As said, mine comes directly through the back garage wall.
Is this an already installed FiOS connection, or are you preparing for the guy to come?

already installed and it goes from ont then up side of house into attic for about 10ft of it being outside

OK. And you're looking to replace this because.....?
From the ONT, into the attic, then what happens?

looking to replace it because a test i ran showed some packet drop so i figured if i was probably gonna replace the cable i might as well use a better one and it goes through the attic to my room on the other side of the house

Well...you need to find the actual cause of the packet drop before you go all rewiring. It may be something else altogether.

I'm just saying - don't automatically assume it is the cable. It might be any of a number of things....cable being far down the list.

Is this a new condition?
After the existing cable goes into the attic, then what? What does it connect to?
