Sound Not Switching!?!?

This is annoying.

So with the VGA cable, I could just plug in my headphones and the sound would switch from the monitor to the headphones.

I switched it out for an HDMI cable and NOW it will not switch automatically between the two. I have to go into the control panel and manually switch the default sound device.

Anyway to work around this problem and get it automatic again?

Right click on the sound in the windows bar at the bottom of the screen and go playback devices -> then right click on your HDMI sound device and disable it.

Click the regular windows sound as "default device". Problem solved.

In order to play music from my monitor, I still have to go back into Playback devices and set the monitor as default. I'm thinking this will change when I add speakers to my PC though. Thanks anyway.

What do you mean when you say play music from my monitor??? If your monitor has internal speakers, then there is no need to change out the settings from HDMI since HDMI is both display and audio combined.
