Hi guys!

This is my first post here on Toms Hardware, hope you guys are willing to help a not so computersavvy n00b like me :)

A while ago I decided to buy new parts and build my first gaming computer, with the help of a friend who had some experience with it. Assembling the parts went fine and the computer powered up without problem however once we started to fix install the software problems arose. Windows 7 took several attempts to install and he had to do some switch-arounds to make it finally land on the harddrive, then within 10 minutes we got the first BSoD... After installing all the updates it seemed to have dropped in frequency but now I get a BSoD about 1-4 times daily.

This happens usually when I try to ALT + TAB out of a game but has also happened when I've tried to full-screen a youtube video. The most frequent type of BSoD is "win32.sys" and it is literally doing my head in. Neither my friend or myself have any idea what could be causing these crashes but my suspicion is that it is due to either a faulty harddrive or a bad pirated copy of windows 7. Any way to find out?

Thanks in advance!
