So I have an HP compaq small form business machine. I recently received my friends old video card and large tower case. The PC currently has an onboard video card.
Upon switching cases and installing the new video card into the PCI slot i notice that there is a 1/2" overlap where the heat sink should be
I was wanting to know if it would be detrimental to the processor if i altered the heat sink and cut it to let the card fit over. Also given the number of fans I own cooling will not be an issue within the tower.
I have the tools to make this work and rig a processor fan to fit over everything
