Looking for a GPU that goes well with my PC

So I'm building up my new PC and I was looking for a GPU that goes really well with the parts I have bought already. I only have $500 for my gpu. Components:
Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth R2 990Fx
CPU: AMD Fx 8350
Ram: Kingston Hyper X 8GB (4x2)
Power supply: Silverstone ST75F
Storage: WD 1TB Caviar Black & Kingston Hyper X 120GB SSD

If you're playing in 1080p then an R9 290 is a bit overkill.
I'd get an R9 270x or 280x if you're playing in 1080p, or a 290x for 1440p. Nevermind, if you're playing in 1440p I'd go with the gtx 780 that blackbird gave a link to.

If he gets the r9 290 he saves a lot of money, it performs very similar to r9 290x and can perform even better if overclocked. And the gtx 780 is expensive/performance

here is a gaming benchmark (780, 780Ti R9 290 R9 290X are there)

780 Ti > R9 290X > 780 > R9 290


If I had the money for a 780 Ti, would it Bottleneck my system?
