I was just wondering, would this gpu be on par with the 780 ti in terms of performance? Because I've had my budget cut short a bit so I've had to look at AMD cards that offer similar performance to a 780 Ti
You will get stock 780ti performance out of this card but to achieve performance like any of the 780ti's with aftermarket coolers, you will need to overclock this card a lot

But for gaming on a 1080p monitor, the difference won't be noticeable right?
for gaming at 1080p, you can drop down to the r9 280X or the r9 290 quite happily as the r9 290x and 780ti are excessive for 1080p, so you might as well save yourself some money and go with one of those two for 1080p

I know that 40hz won;'t make a difference but it fits well with my colour scheme of the msi mpower aswell
Dude, $170 more just to match your color scheme. Do you realize that its gonna be bottom side up, so you wont even see the fans and such for any cards. All you are gonna see is a bunch of circuits
If you are absolutely sure go ahead. Both of these cards have similar overclocking headroom, so you can't say that the MSI is the "best". Also, the MSI R9 290x has less reviews, so buy at your own risk. Also, the sapphire tri-x has Hynix memory, not sure about the MSI Lightning.
the msi lightning has Samsung memory, which is supposed to be better at oc'ing, and it's part of the lightning series, which is like it's premou line, like the matrix platinum at asus,
