Hello guys I come here wondering if Intel Z77's chipset is being phased out? I am seeing a lower stock and variety of motherboards that is purchasable on Newegg.

I am wondering if I should make the jump at buying a Z77 now before it's too late and they rise in price because of low supply.

I kind of want to jump at this BIOSTAR motherboard on Newegg that is currently on sale but I am skeptical of BIOSTAR. Link to motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138353

You can try that, but it's not worth it - it won't be a solid 4 that will be the top end of the turbo boost, and no you won't be raising the multiplier, that's for K model CPUs, also with the BLCK up to 105 that speeds...

Most likely yes; how fast is the real question. Z97 is already here and Z87 felt like it came and went. If you don't plan on overclocking then perhaps a low end board will do you just fine. Make sure you are pairing it with an amd gpu as it is labeled as a crossfire mobo. Surprisingly enough that doesn't mean it can do sli and many times it means it cannot. You'll have to double check that if dual gpus are ever in your plans. It appears to have pretty good reviews. Components even solid brand names can be a crap shoot but the odds are better when you spend more of course but I say go for it. You can always rma. If you can find a similar board in a walk in store within $5 or $10 maybe do that to save on shipping costs if needed. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. Sorry I should of added more info.

I have an i5-3470 and is of course locked. I bought into a H77 chipset and am wanting some more speed out of my CPU. I have read you can overclock the 3470 to 4.0ghz via upping the turbo boost multiplier to x38 and putting the BLCK to 105. I also have a HiS Radeon HD 7850 and I'm not sure if I will crossfire this card. I may upgrade to a single good GPU later on so maybe this motherboard will work just fine for me.

Thanks in advance guys.

edit: correct by saying turbo boost multiplier

In general it would be a waste of money, put the money aside and aim for a Z97 and Haswell refresh (Devils Canyon) CPU

Sorry I meant the turbo boost multiplier. My CPU is default 3.2 GHZ and can turbo up to 3.6 but can only turbo to 3.4 across all 4 cores. So 600 MHz increase up to 4.0 wouldn't be worth it? Because that would be the sole purpose of me upgrading. You do make a good point it could be not worth it.
