Going to make this a lengthy post to give you guys as much info as possible.
I decided to upgrade yesterday, my old setup as follows
-I5-2400 processor
Gigabyte P67 motherboard
16gb DDR3 Ram
Nvidia GTX 600
500gh Samsung SSD
Windows 8.1 64bit
This system was running fine, just games like watch Dogs,Grid, BF i wanted more from, even out of f2p mmo like never winter.
New Setup
I5-4690k 1150 socket
ASrock Extreme 4 motherboard
16gb DDR 3 memory- reused from old PC
Nvidia GTX 600- Reused form old setup
500gh SSD HD
Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Install went well had everything up and running in 30min or so. Note I did not do a fresh install of windows at this point. Flash Bios to newest version, got new chip set drivers and I running to see how it would go. Browsing etc went great. started to play my games and everything was good for about 1hr. was playing neverwinter and PVPing and boom game crashed. (not uncommon) at times, got back in and boom crashed again. No warning or anything. After about 1 hr of this finally i get a warning. DXGI-ERROR-DEVICE-REMOVED.
I search high and low on this game and no clean answer why. I revert to Direct x9 from 11 in the game dim the setting to med/low. runs like a champ. put it back and boom crashes again. Tested watch dogs, game crashed after 5min on medium settings no warning of why. Same with Grid.
Today. Fresh install of Windows 8.1, all updates completed/drivers. Nvidia drivers (not beta drivers) get my games back installed. play for 3 hours on pretty much max settings on neverwinter and Boom crashed again, same warning. Check my windows log and have a warning at the time for " Display Driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered. tried watch dogs and 2 min and it crashes.
Any ideas? I tried the on board video card and while everything is on low to medium settings I have no issues. I have read something about the GPU being overclocked, I have never done that or know how to properly change that on MSI burner to see if that is issue.
A friend seems to think I need to take the motherboard back to micro ceneter and get a better one or different one, but all the tests seem to be pointing to a video issue. Anything to try before i go drop 300+ on a new GPU would be great. Sorry for the long post but know its better to know everything versus bits and pieces of what i have tried.
Thanks.
