Hello everyone I have a question. I am using a 1440p monitor with crossfiring Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB Vapor-X. When I idle is looks normal at arounf 49 to 51 C. But once I stress test it or play games on it my cards go to around 80C. Is that normal because that seems high.

More about : high temperatures sapphire radeon 290 4gb vapor

These cards are rated up to 100C. As long as it tops out at 80, it's perfectly normal.

I do find it surprising that both cards are hitting the 80 degree mark. Only the top card really should. You should also consider a custom fan profile that is more aggressive. I have 2 290x vapour x oc cards and only the top card hits 80 and only when I am heavily over clocking the pair. I must admit though that I have a HAF-X chassis that I customized with additional cooling solutions. I do think more aggressive fan settings will solve your temps and bring them back to the 70s.

Is it true that the cards are safe running up to 100C? After some more testing I got only the top card to hover around 80 and 81 and the bottom one around 70 but I just want to make sure that it can get hotter without complication just in case.

Not actually 100, but I believe the comment was made as a general statement. Throttling will occur at 95 C, damage can occur over 95. You will never hit that point, not with that set of gpus. They are the best crossfire solution available.

You can also monitor temps onscreen with Afterburner.

Fear not your cards are running perfect.
