So I'm getting into building computers and I've never bought my first motherboard. Do motherboards always/typically/never come with USB headers to connect to the case? Do they also come with the wire you attach to the power button or do I have to buy these separate?

Solution
The motherboard will come with the header, usually a couple of usb 3.0, and couple of 2.0, depending on the model. The wire for the power button is hard connected to the case, the motherboard just has the spot to plug it in.

Most motherboards nowadays come with USB 2.0/3.0 headers as well as built in ports on the back. Make sure to check to see if the motherboard you're looking at has them, though.

Solution
In addition to the good advice already given, some motherboards have also included brackets with USB ports and cables that a person could optionally use for additional connectivity, in the event their case did not have USB attachments, or didn't make use of all the available USB headers on the motherboard.

You can also purchase these brackets separately if you need. A simple Google search should turn up plenty of options.
