So my girlfriend just bought a new Nvidia GEFORCE GT 610 for her computer, we just play World of Warcraft, her computer is from 2007 its an HP and the specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 DUAL CORE PROCESSOR 4600+
2GB RAM
(The integrated card was a 6100LE (I THINK)

as far as I can see her computer meets the system requirements

I disabled the onboard graphics and it is currently hooked up to the new card and the actual display is fine, but when we load into the game her graphics are still the same, but there is no lag when mousing over spells and other things, its just her actual spell detail is still the same as the onboard card, things are very pixelated or there is no animation at all. Before with the onboard she would get a warning message before the game started saying that she didnt meet the requirements to play, she doesnt get that at all now, the games spell display is still garbage.

the drivers are up to date, and everything else works including the audio so I really dont know what to do here. I have tried messing around with several settings and doing multiple reboots and nothing is helping.

so just to be clear, actual gameplay seems to be smoother and more clear, but when casting her spells it is still very pixelated and just bad, if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it!

her characters spell detail is the only thing that looks pixelated, when mounting up the dust looks like minecraft, best way I can put it, just looks terrible, other than that the game looks normal.

Huh sounds like particle effects are on low to me. Very rarely do GPUs cause problems like that so its a software issue. I'd test out another game that is lightweight such as a source engine game and see how it runs. Also I'd find a way to upgrade the CPU as well because WoW is a CPU intensive game.

do you mean buy another processor? we really cant, the graphics card was on sale so we grabbed it, and she said with the onboard mount up didnt cause the spell detail to go minecraft, the game itself looks and plays better but its the spells and everything of that sort that is just messe up, but enemy spells seem to look fine...I just dont get it, never had this issue before.

also her PC is running direct X10 I believe, and on wow it says its DX9

I played on this pc myself about a year ago and even with the onboard it was playable and the spell detail was fine, then we just never really touched it again till now, and its saying the onboard isnt good enough, but now we have this new card and thats the only hang up, I turned the settings to ultra, low fair good, everything, and the surroundings and everything gets sharper or dull depending, but her spell detail is always garbage, im banging my head against a wall here I just dont know what the problem is

It has nothing to do with the graphics card. The developers of that game decide the quality of the spells. They just did a bad job of making hd animations, nothing wrong on your part.

Simply put,

Its like someone took a picture with a 1 megapixel camera and used it as a game animation

What is your screen resolution? I bet the animations don't look too well on 1080p. Better, but not great.

shes playing on a standard vga monitor, we switched from our TV to the vga several times and they both look identical, never had a card do this before, and SHE doesnt play on 1080 a friend of mine does and his friends, I personally never have but I have seen it played with no problems at that setting..

Since your monitor is VGA, the likelihood is that it it does not support 1080p. That is why the animations suck.

There is nothing you can do but get a new monitor if you are really annoyed by it. Your graphics card (GT 610) may not even run smoothly @1080p

im not playing it at 1080p though, we DID try using the TV which is 720p and our standard VGA monitor, and they both give the same animation for the spells and mounting, the card has a VGA port and an HDMI port, we tried both with two different monitors, there is no difference in either.
