So as the topic above explains, i want to try a dual monitor setup on my 7870. I know it can run i dont need it to be draw dropping 4k or 1080p. The problem i have right now is that my 7870 only has 1 HDMI port (I want to run dual monitors off hdmi) 1 DVI port (btw im using tv's that doesnt have dvi) and 2 mini display ports. Would an HDMI splitter work and then i set it to detect both monitors? Please i do not want to got out and buy a 5$ or more on the setup. I just want to test (keyword TEST) it out and i return the other monitor to my dad.

You just need an HDMI to DVI cable or HDMI to DVI adapter. HDMI and DVI are the same protocol, just different plugs. I'm also currently running dual 1080p monitors from my HD7870 with an HDMI to HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI cable :-)

This should definitely work. You do not need an HDMI splitter TerrorDactyle.
