Hey guys! I been trying to figure out how my friend has a I3-3220, 8gb ddr3-1600, Windows 8, and a Radeon HD 7700 Series GPU and i have a FX-8320, 8gb ddr3-1866, Windows 8.1, and MSI R9- 280 OC series but yet his seems to be faster with the OS and pretty much equal to better in games and fps.. Any ideas what i'm missing or what to do? He bought his off Tigerdirect and this was my first build and so i dont know what i need to do to get all out my pc.. I have the Stock CPU Cooler so OC my CPU is pretty much out the question from what i've read without a after market cooler! Any help would be great!!! Thanks...

Yahbe,

It's probably because he's running on a SSD while you're using a mechanical HDD. And he might be overclocking when you're not. Also as TechyInAZ said, he may have lowered his gameplay settings and got better performance. And as for the aftermarket CPU cooler, I have to say that I am so impressed that you actually survived with the AMD FX stock cooler... It's probably the world's noisiest thing I have ever heard. (Unless you're using a silent case, then I have nothing much to say lol) I really do suggest you to get an aftermarket CPU cooler since they tend to cool better and be much more SILENT than the AMD stock cooler. AMD CPUs tend to have a much higher TDP than Intel CPUs, making the requirement for an aftermarket cooler even worse. I overclock my 8350 to 4.8 GHz and I am using a H100i AiO cooler. It works great, but I doubt that you will need something this good... A cheap CM Hyper 212 EVO would be a great choice since you can find it anywhere. LITERALLY ANYWHERE. And they cool much better than the stock cooler and QUIETER.

Anyways, hopefully that helped ;)

Ryan :)

And i'm pretty sure he does know how to OC being he doesnt even know whats inside his computer! I checked when I was over at his house the other day and yea I know a stock cooler is the worst thing I can have but budget wasnt there at the time! I will be upgrading it later tho... we both put the same setting on a game like DayZ for example and his seems to flow much better so wasnt sure if there is something im missing or if there is something I need to turn on or off in the AMD Catalyst Controls to help my gaming experience...

Again this is my first build so there is a lot I don't know yet about how to setup or what all needs to be done for me to get the best performance.. Any tips or ideas would be great if you have a suggestion..
