I think due to it being new technology, they are still testing it.

If you noticed the voltage on them seems also fairly low (1.2V) compared to the mainstream DDR3 Ram of today, like the G.Skill Trident X at 1.5V.

Yeah, DDR4 will operate at much lower voltages, but you can get DDR3 @1600MHz CL9 that operates at 1.25V: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f312800cl9d8gbsr2

I have to admit that getting to 2133MHz with 1.2V is still impressive though.

The ddr4 memory kits linked in this thread are all ECC. Would they really work with, say, a Core i7-5820K and an X99 motherboard?

Probably not, you'd need to combine one of those boards with the new Xeons in order for it to work.
