Hi, I'm having some strange issues with the temperatures. Every time I start Windows, i get artifacts, nvidia kernel driver stopped responding, black screen, and after that everything seems to be normal. The strange thing is that sometimes the temps are high and sometimes low for no particular reason.

For example now it is idling at 60 degrees, and yesterday when I played Watch dogs max was 59 degrees, and after closing the game it came back to 30 idle.

The heat sink is polished, the rear bracket removed, new thermal paste and 12 cm fan attached to the card, so it seems to be a software issue?

Is it o/c'd? Could be signs of a flaky power supply. Have you tried removing the card and reseating it? Clean the PCI contacts on the card with a pencil eraser before reseating.
It's 4 years old and games are getting a lot tougher on video cards nowadays.
Just sayin'.

Everything stock, currently it's idling at 55C, with only chrome opened. Will try the eraser, thanks for the tip! Forgot to mention, yesterday i hit 105C according to msi afterburner!

40-50 is normal idle speed depending where you are in the world and outside temperature.

Hitting 105c is a killer, is the fan ramping up automatically, if not, time to use a manual fan speed mapping.

I like the EVGA tool : http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/precisionx-dowload-...

If you use it or MSI Afterburner, it must be running when windows starts to manipulate the fans.

If your brave enough, you could also try disabling heatsink, cleaning then fan and replacing thermal paste.

Hi, the fan is spinning on maximum, I was using Afterburner, but switched to Precision X yesterday. Both programs are set to start with Windows. The strange thing is, that few days ago it sit at 30C idle and 60C max. And the driver keeps crashing even after uninstalling it today...

Forgot to mention, the fan is free of dust.
