I recently got my dad's old computer... It was working perfectly fine when he had it but now that i have it (Haven't been able to use it due to thus reason) it hasnt been working. I think the problem is with the PCI Express x16 slot than the motherboard(Asus P5Q SE2) itself. The current Graphics Card was working perfectly well while he had it. I plugged everything up the way it was suppose to be... Yesterday morning i purchased a new Card and it still doesnt work. I plug in the respective cord to the monitor and nothing shows up the monitor is on and the monitors power button blinks.

Any suggestions on anything before i go out and purchase anything else

PCI-E x16 slot is supposed to deliver 75 watts of power to any device connected to it.

Now saying that, some OEM manufacturers supply low wattage PSU's and limit the draw by the slot, it could be that your new card needs more than the slot is capable of giving.

It could also be as simple as the new card is drawing more power than the psu can supply.

Can you tell us the old and new card models ?
