GTX 770 is much better than the GTX 760 regardless of VRAM.
If you spending £1200, then you might as well spend more on the gpu.

Passmark is my benchmark site of choice. They have measurements for both the GTX 770 and the GTX 760, With raw numbers of 6188 and 4984, rspectively, that impleis the 770 has roughly a 24% improvement in performance over the 760. With the price of a GTX 770 roughly 32% more expensive than the GTX 760 - it's for you to decide. :)

Also, I meant to add that it should be easy to build a £1200 gaming PC with a GTX 770 card in it. :)

Update: In fact, you can get an even better card, the GTX 780 at that price and have a litte change left over. :)
